What do the medals mean on IXL? ›

You earn a medal every time you master a skill. See all of your medals on the practice page for your grade, next to the names of the mastered skills!

When you pick a skill, the difficulty level will be picked by default to be the level that corresponds to proficiency within the skill (aka a SmartScore of 80). This is marked by the blue/green ribbon next to the level name - all levels that are at or beyond proficiency will have the ribbon.

IXL provides skill plans based on textbooks, state standards, assessments, and more. Determine the skill plan(s) you want your teachers to focus on, and encourage them to pin the plan for their students. Teachers can pin multiple skill plans or change them throughout the year.

Personalized certificates are awarded for reaching IXL milestones involving the number of questions practiced, amount of time spent practicing, and number of skills with excellent scores. You can find your certificates in the Certificates center on the Awards tab. They can also be emailed to you!

A skill with a yellow star indicates the skill is suggested to all students on your roster. A skill with a partially filled-in star indicates the skill is suggested to at least one of your students. Students will see a yellow star next to any skill that you have suggested to them.

A skill is mastered when the SmartScore reaches 100, but the number of questions it takes to master a skill varies with every student. To continuously motivate students, IXL recommends setting other practice milestones along the way to mastery. A score of 80 is proficient, and a score of 90 is considered excellent.

IXL Diagnostic scores are scaled such that scores correspond to grade levels. For example, a score of 350 indicates that the student has acquired about 50% of third-grade material, whereas a score of 400 indicates that the student is ready to learn fourth-grade material. Reliability and validity.

Simply hover your mouse over the gray star next to a skill name, and a menu will appear with a list of your students, sorted by class. To suggest a skill to a class, click the star next to the class. To suggest a skill to an individual student, click on the name of a class to see a list of students in that class.

How do you assign a skill plan in IXL? ›

Simply hover over the star next to any skill and select a class or individual student from the menu that appears. Once you have starred the skill, it will be highlighted for your students in their accounts.

Proficiency. Page 2. A score of 80 is considered proficiency and 90 is excellence. Both scores show a strong understanding of a skill and may be the perfect stopping point. Mastery (a score of 100) is an extra challenge!

To filter out mastered skills, click on the medal next to a skill you have achieved a SmartScore of 100 in. To filter out proficient skills, click on the ribbon next to a skill in which you currently have a SmartScore of 80-99.

A star means that a student's level in that strand has been pinpointed to a single number and is up to date. A range of numbers means that a student isn't finished diagnosing and should keep answering diagnostic questions. A student's diagnostic level represents their working grade level. So a level of 400 represents a readiness to start working on 4th-grade skills, and a level of 450 means the student is about halfway through the 4th-grade curriculum.
